DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?
HERE ARE SOME FAQ, PERHAPS THESE ANSWERS WILL HELP YOU!
Newborn Session
When is the best time to book my newborn photography session?
It is never too early to get on your newborn photo shoot schedule! I would recommend to book a session in the second or third trimester of your pregnancy. If your baby is due fairly soon or already born feel free to contact as soon as possible and I’ll try to fit you in.
How soon will my newborn session take place after birth?
I recommend to photograph newborns within the first two weeks of birth. This is because the babies are still sleepy and like being all curled up in those sweet poses.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you’ve missed that window! Older babies may need more wrapping and swaddling, they can be more sensitive to touches, but we can still get beautiful portraits of your baby. I still be using baskets, wraps, hats and other props (if this is what you would like), but probably the baby will be awake during most of the session.
How long will my newborn session last?
We may spend 3-4 hours photographing your baby. I always allow plenty of time for feeding, settling and shooting. But sometimes babies need a couple of breaks for a feed, nappy change or cuddle in this case it might take a bit longer.
Do you include siblings in your newborn sessions?
Absolutely. I offer sibling shots at the beginning or the end of the photoshoot so children don’t need to stay for the entire session.
Can we have pictures with our baby?
Of course! I am more than happy to take some portraits of the baby with parents and siblings. These images will be your favourites and are so important! You may regret not having any photos with your brand new baby!
Where does the Photoshoot take place?
My newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your home and I will bring a variety of props and accessories to you.
How long until photos are ready?
Your edited photos from the session will be emailed to you via an online gallery 3 weeks after your session. And you can choose your favourite images for your package. If you would like to upgrade to another package you also can do it.
What if my baby won’t settle?
Some babies are slightly less settled than others, but there’s usually always a workaround — I’ve got some of tips and tricks for helping to settle babies but if for some reason the session doesn’t go to plan we can reschedule for another date.
How much space do I need for a session at home?
I can set up in any room. A good spot can be found in almost any home. All I need is a little spot next to the window.
What should we wear?
All outfits for the baby are provided. During our consultation, we can discuss the props you’d be interested in for your newborn photo session.
For parents and siblings I recommend plain clothing with no prints and no logos.
Try to select colours that compliment each other, and if you are not sure you can send me your outfits, I’ll help you to choose.
Do you offer Gift Vouchers?
Yes, I do offer Gift Vouchers. The newborn photoshoot is the perfect present for new parents.
What if my baby arrives early or late?
Babies rarely arrive on their due date. When you book a newborn session, I will ask for your due date and I will book a window around your due date.
Newborn Lifestyle and Family sessions
What is an In-Home lifestyle newborn photo session?
In-home newborn sessions are unique to each family. It’s a great way to tell your story, from the comfort of your home. Lifestyle newborn sessions are my absolutely favourite!
I don’t use any props during these sessions. There will be lots of natural cuddling and loving your new addition!
How old should be my baby?
Many families make the decision to book a newborn photo shoot after their baby has been born but the window of opportunity is pretty wide, compared to classic “posed” newborn photography. So the time frame is really up to you.
What should we wear?
Lifestyle sessions are very natural and relaxed. Simple is always better.
For your baby I would recommend plain, solid onesies. Knit bodysuits/dungarees/jumpsuits alway look great. If you have a special blanket or an outfit that are meaningful, we can use them too.
For the family
The most important — comfortable clothes and the clothes you like. Colour coordinated clothes always look beautiful on photos. Choose a colour scheme — mix and match colours so that everyone flows and coordinates. Complement each other without being matchy-matchy.
If you don’t know what colours or look you want to choose for a photo shoot, choose one piece (for example outfit for your baby or a dress for yourself) and build around it.
Please avoid large prints on the outfits, such as labels, cartoon characters, etc. Keep colours neutral but don’t be afraid to add a little bit of color! Whites, creams, grey, and subdued colors always photograph the best as we want the focus to be on you and your little one, not on yor clothing. Cotton, linen look great.
If you can’t decide, please feel free to send me the photos of clothes and we will decide together. And because this is the home family session I wouldn’t recommend office shirt or dress any casual shirts, t-shirts will look more relevant.
How long will the session last?
Typically sessions last up to 2 hours. However I understand that babies can be unpredictable and if it takes longer then that is absolutely fine, I don’t want you to feel pressured or worried about time during your shoot.
